2019 Summer Internship

JOB DESCRIPTION

house of jpeg is seeking a motivated, curious summer intern to help with all facets of the business. The ideal candidate is creative yet has an interest in business and entrepreneurship, is detail-oriented and not afraid of logistics. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is eager to learn! Candidates should be located in New York (or planning to relocate for the summer) and be available to work 3 days a week from mid/end of May through mid-August.

Projects will include:

  • Social media & marketing: partnering with Jane to build the @houseofjpeg editorial calendar, produce content and execute the set brand strategy. An ideal intern is keen to learn more about social media marketing, art direction and content creation.
  • Production coordination: help coordinate Flightsuit production in Manhattan’s Garment District -- picking up materials from suppliers (zippers, fabric swatches) and delivering to seamstress team. Intern will also be involved with new product development process: from ideation to production. By the end of the summer they’ll know the Garment District well and will understand how to bring a new product from ideation to sample stages to final product.
  • Fulfillment: manage new order fulfillment across house of jpeg & jpeg edit properties. Intern will learn about packaging design and will manage once-weekly shipments.
  • Brand research: over the course of the summer, the intern will complete 2-3 research assignments on specific prompts, for example: material sourcing (ex: new packaging options), brand analysis (ex: a deep dive on trends in the creative space), advertising optimizations (ex: brand marketing recommendations based on Instagram’s latest platform features)

Depending on each week’s schedule, internship work will take place at either the house of jpeg studio in Brooklyn, the Garment District in Manhattan or remote at a location of the intern’s choosing. Intern candidates should be comfortable working independently as during production days the team often takes a “divide and conquer” approach.

Compensation: hourly pay + college/university credit (if applicable). Details will be disclosed during the interview process.

Lastly, all intern candidates should be optimistic, curious and excited to learn. Did we mention curious!?
